Wandered into one of the so-typical "Batak" villages. Commonly composed of six to a dozen or so of these wonderful traditional dwellings. (For man and beast, the buffalo are penned below the stilted floor!).
The roof, traditionally thatched, has this shape for cooling. Note the earthquake-proof legs i.e. perched on stones. In a 'quake the home may slip off without damage, simply needs sliding back back atop the stones afterwards! Brilliant. (This is where the buffalo come in handy I guess ;)
(Pretty sure the kit by the door is for milling the rice).
